Overview
WorkMate sends notifications for important events — jobs being assigned, invoices being paid, team members joining, and more. Notifications appear as push alerts on your phone and inside the app as an in-app feed.
Tap the bell icon on the dashboard header to open the notification panel. Unread notifications show a badge count on the icon.
Types of Notifications
| Category | Event |
|---|---|
| Jobs | Job assigned to you, job updated, job started, job completed. |
| Quotes | Quote approved by customer, quote sent. |
| Invoices | Invoice sent to customer, invoice paid, invoice overdue reminder. |
| Team | New access request, team member joined, team member removed, role changed, role upgrade requested. |
| Photos | Photo uploaded to a job (when you're the owner). |
Managing Notifications
Mark a single notification as read — tap the notification in the panel. It will dim to show it has been seen.
Mark all as read — tap Mark All Read at the top of the notification panel to clear the badge and mark everything as seen.
Navigate to related content — tap any notification to go directly to the relevant job, invoice, or team request. This is the fastest way to act on an event.
Enabling Push Notifications
Push notifications require permission from your phone's operating system. If you declined permission when you first installed WorkMate, you can re-enable it:
- iPhone: Settings → WorkMate → Notifications → Allow Notifications.
- Android: Settings → Apps → WorkMate → Notifications → Allow.
You can also go to Account → Notifications in the app and WorkMate will take you directly to the system settings page.
Real-Time Updates
WorkMate uses real-time subscriptions so notification counts and content update automatically while the app is open. When the app is in the background, events are delivered as standard push notifications.
If you notice notifications are delayed, check that you have a stable internet connection. WorkMate syncs any missed notifications as soon as connectivity is restored.
